Glencore Copper is seeking a Data Engineer to support the growth and development of our global Copper Portfolio to be based in Lima.

This role represents a significant opportunity to work in a high-performance team while supporting world class operations and projects globally.


As Data Engineer you will:

  • Develop applied data architectures, pipelines, ETLs, and reports
  • Support the implementation of advanced analytics models and products in the assets
  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architectures
  • Create and maintain optimal data models
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / nonfunctional business requirements.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, redesigning infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.

Your training, skills & expertise checklist:

  • An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant IT, software, computer science or engineering discipline. Postgraduate qualification would be a plus.
  • Direct experience and a very good understanding of the need for formal project disciplines.
  • Multitasking and excellent management of personal time and priorities is essential due to involvement in different timezones.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that work effectively with technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Demonstrated, welldeveloped judgment and problemsolving skills.
  • Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
  • Proficient developing with Python mandatory, (R, Java, C, and/or C++)
  • Experience in Python, Pyspark, RedPanda, Dagster, Kubernetes (Developer), Dockers.
  • Proficient developing API integrations
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
  • Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable 'big data' data stores.
  • Strong project management/Agile and organizational skills.
  • Experience supporting and working with crossfunctional teams in a dynamic environment.
