This is a short-term job for 6 months.

Introduction

The person in this temporary role will work in the ILO Decent Work Team and Country Office for the Andean Countries in Lima, Peru (DWT/CO-Lima). This office supports and provides guidance on International Labor Standards.

The main responsibility is to support the application and dissemination of International Labor Standards in member States across various levels and provide technical assistance to constituents of the ILO.

Under direct supervision, the individual will work closely with the Director of the DWT/CO-Lima and receive guidance from the International Labor Standards Department at headquarters.

Description of Duties
  • Offer technical support on International Labor Standards.
  • Respond to queries on Labor Standards, draft communications, provide necessary support, and assist governments with reporting obligations in a timely manner.
  • Identify capacity development needs, propose solutions, prepare training materials, and conduct training sessions for different audiences.
  • Organize meetings and events related to International Labor Standards, oversee research projects, and contribute to the development of policy briefs and reports.
  • Integrate gender equality considerations into all activities related to labor standards.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Required qualificationsEducation

Advanced degree in law or equivalent. A Bachelor's degree with additional relevant experience may be accepted in place of an advanced degree.

Experience

Minimum of five years in labor rights, labor relations, and knowledge of international labor standards procedures.

Languages

Proficiency in Spanish and working knowledge of English.

Competencies
  • Knowledge of International Labor Standards and Labor Law.
  • Familiarity with the Organization's work programs and IT applications.
  • Ability to use analytical tools and data collection methods.
