**What's the Role**:
You provide advice and analysis of various materials (including alloys, rubber, ceramics, and composites) to Product Development Teams, along with suggestions for new concepts and products, changes, and improvements in line with Bradken strategies and company objectives.
You will collaborate and will work with the Technical Solutions team to conduct and manage material failure investigations, compile failure reports, and communicate outcomes to stakeholders. Conduct quality audits for both first article manufactures and routine production. Provide technical support as needed to manufacturing facilities.
You will participate in developing new characteristics and make sure the use of relevant materials is shared with Product Development teams. You will ensure compliance with relevant Australian and International Quality/Manufacturing Standards, as well as adhere to Bradken's internal specifications, standards, and procedures for design/engineering tasks.
**Key Technical Criteria**:
- Experience in metallurgy / materials engineering, preferably related to the Heavy Manufacturing Industry.
- Experience in the steel industry, preferably the foundry industry.
- Exposure to welding assessment or research, weld overlay would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
- Technical report writing, data analysis and presentation skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- Experience in material failure investigation, development and the techniques/equipment used.
