The UN Resident Coordinator system aims to bring together the different UN agencies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operational activities at the country level. The 2018 UN reform delinked the Resident Coordinator system from the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and invigorated the authority and neutrality of Resident Coordinators. In Lima, the Office of the Resident Coordinator coordinates the 22 Agencies, Funds and Programmes.

**Responsibilities**:
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background and the internship period. Duties may include:

- Support the development and delivery of the partnership strategy
- Identify main stakeholders and analyze the types of information and engagement they are likely to require
- Support research on public-private partnership, SDG investments, analysis of SDG oriented initiatives by private sector, academia and other stakeholders
- Assist in coordinating the formulation of strategies, programmes and policies
- Support the preparation of management meetings, conferences, events and visits

Education

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
(a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,

(b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
- For this internship, studies in the area of International Relations, Public Policy, Political Science, Communications for Development, Sociology is desirable.

Work Experience

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of another UN official language would be an asset.
NOTE: “Fluency” equals a rating of ''fluent'' in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and ¨knowledge of¨ equals a rating of ''confident'' in two of the four areas.
