Teleport Technician

**Overview of Position**:
We are looking for technicians to work in our Lurin teleport to monitor and support equipment to provide satellite services. The scope of their job will be to maintain operation of the infrastructure and provide on-site support to solve any issue that happens during the shift. Good fluency in English language as most of the people you will interact (internal and external customers) with are based in different countries around the globe.

Must be available to work 24x7x365 in 12 hour shifts, 4 days a week. Usually shifts rotate on a monthly basis.

**What you will do**:

- Maintain the operation of the teleport infrastructure including datacenter, earth stations and power source equipment.
- Respond to network and teleport events, alarms or incidents and work through escalation procedures to ensure timely restoration. Includes escalation to higher levels, other areas or departments within the company and providers.
- Responsible for emergency restoration of all teleport equipment: HPAs, U/C, D/C, LNBs, cabling (IFL or ethernet), antennas.
- Troubleshoot of faulted equipment in laboratory.
- Monitoring of teleport equipment and services through a variety of tools like Dataminer, PRTG, Solarwinds, Cacti, etc.
- Daily inspection and recording of parameters of critical equipment: HPAs, LNBs, HVAC, UPS, Power generator, etc. Review any anomality and take appropriate action to correct.
- Respond to internal or external customer service requests including routine on-site installation of equipment or cabling.
- Collaborate on the implementation of new services including racking and stacking of equipment, cable fabrication and testing, documentation generation and updating.
- Follow the annual maintenance schedule and work with the teleport engineers to perform them.
- Assist to contractors when performing routine maintenances.

**What we need from you**:

- Technician level in telecommunications, electronics, computer science or related areas.
- Basic understanding of baseband (modems, multiplexers, Broadband, IP technologies and Video technologies/systems).
- Basic understanding of radiofrequency
- Understanding of IP networks
- Knowledge of structured cabling.
- Ability to learn new technologies and services. Strong technical focus to read and understand technical documentation and willingness to understand new concepts
- Fluency in English language.
- This role requires you to work at some extreme heights.
- Good organizational, multi-tasking and team player skills.
- Good customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.

**Even better if you have**:

- Knowledge in industry standard network monitoring and management tools.
- Basic knowledge of electrical infrastructure.
- Knowledge in the use of test equipment (spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, power meter, multimeter).
