Remote Backend Engineer

In this role, you will play a crucial part in the modernization and replatforming of mission‑critical applications. This opportunity calls for someone with strong expertise in Java and possibly IBM Maximo, focused on migrating legacy systems to modern, cloud‑native architectures. Accountabilities - Lead and support the replatforming and modernization of existing enterprise applications. - Configure and customize IBM Maximo for effective asset management. - Develop and maintain Maximo Business Objects (MBOs) and automation scripts. - Integrate Maximo with external systems using REST APIs and middleware. - Conduct analysis of existing Maximo implementations for performance improvements. - Support data migration activities to Azure cloud storage. - Implement cloud‑native services using Azure App Services and Functions. - Collaborate with users and engineering teams to meet mission requirements. - Participate in testing for upgrades and modernized deployments. - Create and maintain technical documentation for configurations and integrations. Requirements - Active DoD Secret clearance or higher. - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. - 3‑7 years of experience as a software engineer in federal environments. - Strong IBM Maximo or Java development experience. - Proficient in Spring, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and modern frameworks. - Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across distributed systems. - Familiarity with SDLC best practices and DevSecOps workflows. - Strong communication skills and ability to produce clear documentation.
