Chief Engineer, 35m Yacht

Morris Nautical is looking for a professional, experienced AMSA MED 1 Engineer for a 35m Foreign flagged yacht based in Cairns. This is a hands‑on, sole engineer position requiring exceptional technical expertise across all onboard systems and a proactive, solutions‑oriented approach. About the role As an experienced Engineer, you will be required to: - Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all engineering systems onboard, including propulsion, generators, fuel systems, HVAC, watermakers, hydraulics, refrigeration, and hotel services. - Maintain, repair, and operate the yacht’s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. - Oversee engineering maintenance schedules and compliance requirements. - Troubleshoot technical issues with a hands‑on approach. - Maintain a detailed preventive maintenance program and manage all service schedules and technical records. - Oversee inventory control of critical spares and coordinate the procurement of parts and technical support as required. - Implement and uphold safety procedures in accordance with flag state requirements and keep all engineering logs, records, and statutory documentation up to date. - Conduct regular system checks and fault diagnosis to minimise downtime. About you - STCW95/COST. - Valid AMSA MED 1 or Y4. - Seafarers medical certificate. - Previous experience in a similar role on vessels of comparable size. - Experience as Chief or sole engineer on vessels of similar size and complexity. - Strong working knowledge of engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, HVAC, etc. - Familiarity with maintenance software and electronic logbooks. - High level of autonomy, attention to detail, and ability to problem‑solve under pressure. - Australian working rights only. #J-18808-Ljbffr
