What you'll do

The DBA role will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, security, and performance of critical RDBMS systems to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our corporate applications. This is a “hands-on” position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent leadership/interpersonal and communication skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the sustainment of multiple database environments (MSSQL, SAP HANA) running on different landscapes (On Premise and Cloud), ensuring its operational readiness (security, tuning, health and performance), executing data tasks, and performing data modeling in support of multiple development teams. Must be capable of working independently and collaboratively within a global team.

Responsibilities:

- Manage databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
- Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
- Monitor, track, and solve reported vulnerabilities detected at database server level.
- Keep database servers running on latest release and service pack versions.
- Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
- Define and maintain standard processes through elaboration of detailed technical documents.
- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
- Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
- Provide support for critical production systems.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities during normal working and after hours.
- Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.

What you bring:

- 5+ years MS SQL Server Administration, installation, and troubleshooting (version 2019 to 2022 and SQL as a Service is a plus) experience required.
- 3+ years SAP HANA Server Administration, installation, and troubleshooting (version 2.0 onwards and HANA as a Service is a plus) experience required.
- Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools (SQL Profiler, Performance monitor, SQL Query Data Store).
- Experience with Agile methodology and tools like JIRA.
- Relational Database programming concepts (automated Scripts and batch processes).
- Experience with backups, restores and recovery models within MSSQL and SAP HANA RDBMS.
- Strong SQL Query skills within MSSQL and HANA (via HDBSQL).
- High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server (Always on) and HANA (HANA Real-time data replication).
- Strong data security experience for both MSSQL and HANA.
- Proven experience on data encryption protocols (SSL and TLS protocols) for MSSQL and HANA RDBMS.
- MSSQL and SAP HANA Installation, Administration, and Data modeling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and ability to work with a global team.
- Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams.
- High attention to detail and adherence to established processes.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and knowledge to adapt and learn quickly in a changing environment.
- Desire to succeed, grow skill sets, and a positive attitude.
- Experience with code review tools (Perforce and Crucible preferred).
- Networking concepts (network layers, Security, troubleshooting).
- Strong Windows and Linux administration knowledge.

Nice to have:

- Administration and configuration over reporting services, integration services, and analysis services for SQL Server version 2019 to 2022.
- HANA Administration utilizing HANA Studio, HANA Cockpit, and Linux command line.
- Familiarity with GDPR requirements and tools (Idera SQL Compliance Manager preferred).
- Strong Linux skills and shell scripting experience.
- Administration skills for third-party backup tools like Cohesity and LiteSpeed.

ISBN Business Services Database Administration team is responsible for bringing support on every duty related to SQL and HANA database aligned with more than 30 different internal and external customer-facing solutions. Some of our main responsibilities are related to keeping, defining, and implementing standards, improving and monitoring database performance, backup and restore processes, security, and automation by using DevOps lifecycles. As part of the Operations team, we also have a very close relation with the System Administration team by working on defining new environments (servers build and configuration), networking setups, high availability, and disaster recovery plans.
