Job Overview Plan A Technologies is seeking a Senior Streaming & Data Platform Engineer to centralize ownership of streaming and persistence layers across the organization. This role is ideal for engineers who act as Subject Matter Experts, embed with internal teams to establish best practices, improve libraries, and bootstrap platform capabilities. You will play a critical role in maturing the company’s use of event streaming and cloud‑native data stores while enabling teams to adopt standardized, scalable patterns. Please note: you must have at least 4+ years working with streaming technologies to be considered for this role. Responsibilities - Design and evolve streaming solutions using Kafka, Pub/Sub, or similar technologies - Improve reliability, scalability, and observability of streaming systems - Partner with teams to standardize database and messaging usage - Improve shared libraries and developer‑facing abstractions - Act as an embedded SME and advisor, guiding architecture and implementation - Support SRE‑style concerns such as resilience, monitoring, and operational readiness Qualifications - BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent - 7+ years of backend, data, or platform engineering experience - 4+ years working with streaming technologies (Kafka, Pub/Sub, etc.) - Strong experience with cloud‑native databases (AWS data stores preferred) - Experience building and supporting high‑throughput, distributed systems - Ability to operate as a hands‑on technical leader and mentor - Experience designing platform teams or shared infrastructure layers - Familiarity with event‑driven architectures at scale - Background in SRE or reliability engineering - Excellent verbal and written English communication skills - Initiative and drive to do great things About the Company & Benefits Plan A Technologies is an American software development and technology advisory firm that brings top‑tier engineering talent to clients around the world.
