IPA Perú seeks a qualified applicant for the position of intern in Lima, Peru.

The Migration DIT project seeks to understand the effect of migration on early childhood development in the northern triangle. The literature suggests that the migration process can affect physical and mental health, and cognitive development. For these reasons, this project aims to study this event through two approaches: quantitative and qualitative.

On the one hand, the quantitative approach pretends to estimate the effect of parent’s migration on the early childhood development of their left-behind children. On the other hand, the qualitative approach pretends to describe the situation and condition of early childhood development of children from the northern triangle who have migrated unaccompanied or accompanied.

In addition to that, you will be exposed to several IPA teams and will be able to take advantage of tailored training and development opportunities. As an intern on the Migration DIT Project team, here are some projects and activities that you can look forward to:

- Participate in the research design process in its different stages
- Assist in literature review and other tasks relevant to the research project
- Assist in the development of reports and presentations about the study and research results for different audiences in Spanish and English
- Assist in survey design and programming
- Assist in data management and data cleaning
- Assist in the creation of training material and reports
- Assist in training and monitoring of field teams
- Work with IPA staff, the researchers, and other partners to analyze the data collected and interpret the results
- Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor

The intern will work closely with the Research Associate. And we expect the intern to be able to complete 30 working hours per week.
- Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Economics, Social Sciences, Statistics, or a related field. Preferably, between 7th and 10th semester.
- Detail-oriented; outstanding interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to work in teams.
- Strong oral and written communications skills, both in Spanish and English.
- Good quantitative skills and experience with Stata. Programming and other technical knowledge are a strong plus.
- Prior knowledge of quantitative data collection instruments and tools is preferred.
- Prior knowledge of randomized evaluations and econometric methods is preferred.
