What your day would be like
- Advise the Area Manager, for an effective relationship maintenance with key personnel of member and non-member airlines, stakeholders in government, political groups, and other non-traditional stakeholders, help the Area Manager discern their key issues to improve intelligence gathering and support the advocacy efforts for the betterment of the industry.
- Coordinate and support the Area Manager and other members of the local office, with the consolidation of advocacy-related coalitions required to support the industry´s objectives.
- Prepare position papers, letters, and documents, in coordination with the Regional Office, for the Area Manager to support the objectives defined for the country or cluster.
- Monitor and report to the Area Manager and the relevant departments in the Regional Office, on new or modifications associated with key legislative matters and activities. Evaluate, regulatory, or other relevant matters ensuring members' interests are at the core of every action.
- Accompany the Area Manager and or other senior managers to meetings with regulators and other stakeholders as needed and provide advice to the Area Manager on key regulatory matters for the benefit of the industry.
- In coordination with the Regional Office and with the Regional Economist, promote the social and economic value of aviation at all levels.
- Advise the Area Manager for the deployment of an innovative and integrated advocacy efforts to help convey a positive image of the industry and influence stakeholders’ policy decision making
- Serve in an advisory capacity to the Area Manager and to senior management at regional level on all aero-political matters in the country or cluster.
- Support the Area Manager and the other members in the local office, in the execution of the operational plan in alignment with the Americas Strategic Plan and in coordination with other IATA Departments and countries, as may be appropriate.

College degree in International Relations, Law, Economics, or Political Science or related field of expertise.

Experience in aviation law/regulatory practice, is preferred.

2-3 years of experience in aviation, transport, travel, related and/or similar industry.

Negotiation experience with a multitude of stakeholders will be desired.

Ability to process complex information and derive analytical thinking and ability to provide solutions to complex scenarios.

Team player experience with the ability to cope with complex directions.

Ability to deliver on IATA’s Industry Agenda and support the team address IATA´s members need as may be appropriate.

Proven communication skills including technical writing competency.

Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish is essential.

Strong organizational skills with ability to deliver on tight deadlines and productivity metrics.
