This role is ideal for candidates with accounting experience who are detail-oriented and eager to contribute in a fast-paced startup environment where operations are evolving. You will gain hands-on experience with core accounting processes and contribute to accurate financial reporting while proactively identifying solutions in a dynamic, less-structured setting.**Additionally, the Accounting Clerk will play an active role coordinating with local accounting teams located in each country where Latin Xplore operates in Latin America. This involves collaborating on regional financial activities, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and facilitating smooth communication between the corporate accounting function and field teams, including tour operations, supplier payments, and client invoicing. Note that involvement with accounts payable is limited to corporate expenses; expenses andpayments destined to suppliers and local vendors are managed by the local teams, though these transactions will be checked for correct matching and alignment with corporate records.**> Role culture note:This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup reality, is open to challenges, and is proactive in seeking solutions. The candidate should be comfortable enforcing instructions with diligence in a evolving and sometimes imperfectly organized environment.### Key Responsibilities- Enter and code invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports into the accounting system with accuracy.- Process and reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions, focusing on corporate expenses; coordinate with local teams to ensure proper matching of supplier-related transactions where applicable.- Assist with bank reconciliations and daily cash posting.- Support monthly close activities, including data gathering, journal entry preparation, and supporting schedules under supervision.- Maintain vendor and customer records, ensuring up-to-date contact and payment information.- Help prepare basic financial statements and management reports.- Verify and reconcile receipts, payments, and other financial documents for discrepancies.- Respond to internal inquiries regarding purchase orders, invoicing, and payment status.- Maintain organized filing systems (paper and electronic) for easy retrieval.- Identify process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.- Coordinate with local accounting teams in each Latin American country of operation to share information, align on reporting requirements, address regulatory changes, and support cross-border financial activities.- Collaborate with tour operations teams to understand revenue recognition related to tour packages, commissions, and dynamic pricing where applicable.> Role culture note:This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup reality, is open to challenges, and is proactive in seeking solutions. The candidate should be comfortable enforcing instructions with diligence in a evolving and sometimes imperfectly organized environment.### Qualifications- Degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.- 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships accepted) or completed coursework in accounting. Experience in a startup or fast-paced environment is a plus.- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial terminology.- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic computer skills.- Experience with accounting software or ERP systems.
