Mission

In Zelestra Latam, we are looking for a Community Relations Specialist (On-Site) to join the LATAM Security, Environmental & Social (SES) team, based at the Babilonia project located in La Joya, Arequipa (Peru).

The main responsibility of this role is to lead social and community management during the development, construction, and operation phases of the Babilonia Project, ensuring constant and effective communication with the different construction teams and reporting directly to the LATAM Social Coordination.

The role involves creating and strengthening community relationships, as well as building collaborative networks among key stakeholders including local communities, authorities, Zelestra, and partner companies. All responsibilities must be aligned with Zelestra's corporate guidelines, current local regulations, the IFC Performance Standards, the Equator Principles, the Escazú Agreement, and the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out the programs and activities of the Community Relations Plans with the Babilonia project's area of influence, as established in the corresponding DIA.
  • Implement and follow up on the social actions defined by Zelestra.
  • Conduct activities and updates such as field diagnostics, stakeholder mapping, information and awareness events, strategy design, and the implementation and monitoring of social projects.
  • Manage population groups within the project's area of influence, and develop workshops and engagement sessions with community leaders, representatives, and/or communities.
  • Participate in stakeholder engagement processes to support the implementation of the project's community relations plan.
  • Prepare the various reports, documents, and socio-environmental compliance deliverables required by authorities and Zelestra.
  • Monitor and generate alerts regarding conflicts, mediation needs, and crisis management.
  • Implement social tools and instruments for the prevention and/or management of conflict situations.
  • Contribute to the project's risk register and mitigation plans, as well as to the record of lessons learned.
  • Manage and address stoppages or blockades related to solar projects.
  • Support the development of social investment project proposals for communities within the project's area of influence.
  • Manage community social investment initiatives and socio-community projects, leveraging public and internal resources.
  • Support the preparation and implementation of work plans for ethnic and non-ethnic social teams required throughout the different phases of the project, as well as their follow-up.
  • Collect and systematize social verification data.
  • Perform the duties inherent to the position, as well as any additional tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor, provided they are aligned with the nature of the role.
Job Requirements
  • Professional or technical degree in social sciences (Sociology, Communications, Psychology, or similar), with expertise in community-related topics or a related profession.
  • At least 6 years of professional experience in the same role within the energy, mining, or hydrocarbons sectors.
  • Proven experience working directly with communities in the Arequipa region.
  • Class A-I driver's license.
  • Availability to work on-site in La Joya, province of Arequipa.
