DEPUTY CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (INVERELL BASED) Inverell, NSW – Regional role with travel required. Salary $160,000 plus super and salary packaging. Armajun Aboriginal Health Service is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service delivering holistic, culturally safe health and wellbeing services to Aboriginal people across the Northern Tablelands region of NSW. We are seeking an experienced and grounded Deputy Chief Executive Officer to lead the operational management of the organisation and support the Chief Executive Officer in delivering strong, accountable, and culturally safe services to community. About the role Reporting to the CEO, the Deputy CEO is responsible for the day to day operations of Armajun across all programs and business units. This role ensures services are delivered in line with community expectations, funding agreements, legislative requirements, and organisational policies. The Deputy CEO works closely with senior and program managers to oversee service delivery, workforce capability, compliance, risk management, and internal systems. The role plays a key part in translating strategic priorities into effective operational outcomes and building a strong culture of accountability and continuous improvement. The position also acts as CEO when delegated and provides operational leadership across a complex, multi program environment. Key responsibilities Oversee operational service delivery to ensure programs meet performance targets, quality standards, and community needs. Lead and support managers to build capable teams, maintain culturally safe workplaces, and strengthen workforce development and succession planning. Ensure compliance with funding agreements, legislation, accreditation standards, and internal policies. Oversee risk management, quality systems, audits, and continuous improvement processes. Manage operational budgets within delegated authority and ensure efficient use of organisational resources. Provide accurate and timely operational reporting to the CEO, Board, and funding bodies. Support community engagement and maintain strong relationships with government, partners, and regulators About you You are a confident and practical operational leader who is comfortable working across multiple priorities and service areas. You bring a strong understanding of Aboriginal community controlled organisations and are committed to culturally safe practice and community led outcomes. Significant experience in senior operational management within an Aboriginal community controlled organisation or comparable environment. Strong people leadership skills with experience supporting managers and developing teams. Sound knowledge of compliance frameworks, funding requirements, and quality systems. Experience managing budgets, reporting, and operational performance. High level communication skills with the ability to work effectively with community, staff, and external stakeholders. Well developed organisational skills with a focus on accountability and continuous improvement. Relevant tertiary qualification in management, health, business, or a related field (postgraduate qualifications desirable) are required.
