Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with technical support centers in South East Asia and East Africa, that provide program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.
The Consultant Architect is a part-time, on-call position responsible for a variety of job responsibilities such as meeting with clients and gathering information on project goals. The role includes conducting site surveys to determine the best location for buildings or structures, using procedural designs to create step-by-step plans, and ensuring compliance with international and local codes. The architect must also understand site utility requirements (water, electric, communications, etc.) and coordinate the resolution of issues with the design manager and team.
Key responsibilities:
- Review the Client's Program of Requirements as per RFP and other provided information.
- Review applicable statutes, regulations, codes, and by-laws, coordinating with the authorities having jurisdiction when necessary.
- Coordinate and collaborate with integrated teams of architects, engineers, planners, and interior designers.
- Attend project kick-off meetings and site investigations, aiding client engagement to obtain necessary reports.
- Conduct building assessments and provide detailed reports based on code compliance and client needs.
- Review scopes of work, specifications, and plans to ensure project milestones and deliverables are met.
- Comply with the design process to resolve outstanding design issues and act as a solution consultant.
- Provide input for the development and implementation of design and construction standards.
- Review and provide comments on design phases, ensuring solutions meet client requirements.
- Provide basic drawings including sketches, 2D and 3D drawings, and construction documents.
- Provide signed and sealed construction drawings and specifications for assigned projects.
- Act as a representative of Planate during project construction meetings.
- Validate contractor's mark-ups and changes applicable to the drawings post-construction.
- Provide project-related services, including securing necessary approvals and permits.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Design Manager.
Qualifications:
- Must be a licensed Architect.
- Knowledgeable in office automation systems and software such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- At least 12 years of experience in planning and development for recapitalization programs.
- Extensive experience in engineering concepts and terminology related to architecture and project management.
- Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
