The Need

For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, our Field Offices are seeking Communications Interns/Fellows.

Program Dates: September 2025 - September 2026

Virtual New Hire Orientation: June 3-5, 2025

Responsibilities:
- Assist with content creation for various platforms, including newsletters, websites, and press materials.- Support communications strategies by writing and editing articles, press releases, and other external communications.- Conduct research to support communications and advocacy initiatives.- Coordinate and assist with event planning and external communications related to media advocacy.- Manage internal communications, ensuring consistent messaging across materials.- Assist in organizing and archiving communications materials, including photos, videos, and written content.- Participate in IJM’s community of spiritual formation.

Qualifications:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.- Interest in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.- Creative thinker with attention to detail and organizational skills.- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.- Experience or interest in graphic design or video editing is a plus.- Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

- A statement of faith should describe your Christian faith and how you see it as relevant to your involvement with IJM. The statement can either be incorporated into the cover letter or submitted as a separate document and should include, at a minimum, a description of your spiritual disciplines (prayer, study, etc.) and your current fellowship or place of worship._

All IJM internships and fellowships are unpaid volunteer positions. Interns and fellows are expected to financially support themselves throughout the duration of their time of service (+- $25,000 USD for all expenses throughout the year). It is common to fundraise your support for this experience. Please note that we do provide a fundraising platform for those with access to an American bank account that donors can use to get tax receipts, and we are happy to provide other fundraising resources.
