LAC Region (Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, Chile )**Major Function**
- In coordination with the Policy Hub Coordinator and the Private Funds Mobilization Specialist, the Public Sector Engagement Specialist mobilizes and helps the LAC Region to identify public sector funding opportunities (national governments, bilateral and multilateral organizations, and regional bodies responsible for integrating environment, climate and sustainable development in national and regional development priorities, as well as International Financial Institutions) to strategic positions in support of WWF’s mission and to collaborate with other conservation and development partners to achieve common goals.**Key Responsibilities**
- Strategically support the LAC regional leadership and practitioners in developing public sector engagement strategies to generate new initiatives and grow existing relationships with public sector institutions to unleash and mobilize public funding to support our regional goals and priorities.
- In close coordination with Country offices, strategically identify funding sources and influence opportunities that can be activated, including GCF, GEF, Global Biodiversity Fund Bilateral and Multilateral sources, including Development Banks.
- In coordination with Country offices, works with WWF US implementing agencies, PSE and WWF International’s Finance Practice to enhance and support countries that are working or will work with those mechanisms.
- Advises on synergies and alliances with different stakeholders for public funding in connection with LAC priorities.
- Working closely with Country Offices and Cabinets in LAC and focusing on the intersection of Climate, Biodiversity and Sustainable Development agendas, consults on approaches to grow and leverage public funding to meet our transformational initiatives needs and agenda, and increase our conservation impact and goal results.
- Support capacity building in country offices to better relate and engage with public funding sources, tools and procedures.
- Facilitates and coaches teams and individual staff to improve problem solving skills, enhance innovation, and manage programs for results.
- Strategically Support offices in their effort to lead and execute transformational initiatives and transboundary projects.
- Work with WWF INT Public Engagement strategy team and support LAC participations and its leadership team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Skills and Abilities**
- A bachelor's degree in business, or equivalent experience is required.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in similar roles preferably in LAC and a nonprofit or similar setting and well understanding in how public funding work (bilateral and multilateral)
- Able to work with staff across levels and build relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Proven experience in proposal development (public funding bilateral and multilateral proposals)
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
- Familiarity with business plan development and strategic planning.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Bilingual English/Spanish (written and spoken it is a must).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and communication software.
