Software Technical Lead

SUMMARY Take ownership of software that improves public safety and directly helps save lives through industry leading IoT Work across a diverse range of technologies including cloud software, hardware integration and global fire-safety systems Help define and build modern, scalable software powering government-level safety infrastructure and solving complex problems Integrate your solutions with cutting-edge custom hardware engineered in-house Be part of a team with existing contracts across Australia, UAE, Fiji and emerging markets Flexible working environment including 9-day fortnight option and preferred operating system THE OPPORTUNITY As Lead Developer, you will take a senior technical position shaping, planning, and delivering the next generation of the Transdigital cloud platform. You will work closely with our CEO, developers, cloud engineers, and hardware engineering teams to design robust solutions, mentor developers, and ensure our software is secure, scalable, and maintainable. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING - Lead development of new features and modules for our IoT cloud platform - Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate IoT devices via MQTT and ensure seamless end-to-end functionality - Assist the CEO in setting technical direction - recommending architecture improvements, new technologies, and best practices - Mentor and guide a small team of 4 developers and cloud engineers, conduct code reviews, and uphold coding standards and CI/CD processes - Scope to shape and expand the development team as the company grows - Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring high performance and security of the platform in production - Providing technical guidance to customers and internal stakeholders using our platform WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL - Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience - Senior-level software development experience with planning, architecting and hands‑on delivery - Strong leadership qualities – able to guide developers, influence design, and manage complexity - An inherent desire to build and champion clean, efficient, well‑documented and maintainable code in an autonomous manner - Ability to work across backend, frontend and cloud environments - Experience designing scalable, secure, high‑availability systems - Clear communication skills and the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams - General project management and people‑leadership capabilities Strongly regarded skills include - Experience with IoT systems, MQTT, or real‑time event processing - Interest in or experience with electronics, 3D printing, hardware integration, or embedded systems - Exposure to AWS IoT, telecoms integration or device provisioning OUR TECH STACK - End to end Typescript, NestJS and Vue 3 - AWS cloud (currently EC2 based infrastructure but moving to Docker containerisation) - MQTT - Redis - Websockets - REST API - Grafana - GitLab - Rust and C on our hardware (not a requirement) WHY JOIN US Make a real‑world impact as we scale our fire‑safety platform across Australia, UAE and Fiji.
