Chief of Staff (ADV 3 non-ministerial) - SUSAN TEMPLEMAN MP The office of Susan Templeman MP is seeking applications for a full-time, ongoing Chief of Staff based in Windsor NSW. Key Objectives To provide office leadership and high-quality advice and support to the Special Envoy relating to policy, public administration, communication and political matters. Key Duties To provide operational leadership and managerial guidance to the Special Envoy and Electorate Office in a demanding, high-pressure environment. As the Special Envoy’s principal adviser, provide high quality, expert and timely advice on priority, complex and sensitive issues, public administration and political issues. Maintain effective relationships with the Prime Minister’s Office, other Ministerial Offices and the Australian Public Service. Ensure that the resources of the Special Envoy are effectively utilised including electorate office staffing and budgets; and relevant compliance requirements are adhered to. Manage a small team to ensure the Special Envoy’s expectations are met. Maintain oversight of community, media and key stakeholder relationships. Provide advice and support to the Special Envoy on parliamentary matters including legislative processes and parliamentary business. Advise and support the Special Envoy on policy issues in a wide variety of negotiations, meetings and consultations. Provide research and analysis on electorate relevant issues for speeches, media releases and constituent communications. Regular interstate and Canberra travel will be required for this role. Required skills Demonstrated experience in providing advice on a wide range of policy, communication, administrative and political matters in a public, non-profit or private sector organisation. Proven team leadership and management capacity in demanding professional circumstances. Demonstrated experience in strategic communications, issues and crisis management. Ability to communicate effectively and liaise with other Ministerial Offices, the Australian Public Service and the community, including varied constituencies. Developed knowledge of the political process and the Australian parliamentary and political system including legislative and committee work. Demonstrated professional integrity and the ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality. Demonstrated capacity for applying analytical and problem‑solving skills in developing solutions for complex issues. A commencing salary between $109,788 and $154,780 will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills. An additional Personal Staff Allowance of $34,223 may be payable in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work. Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements). An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable. The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police History Check. Staff may be subject to automatic cessation triggers in accordance with Section 14 of the MOP(S) Act.
