As part of our continued focus on operational excellence and customer service, we are seeking a highly experienced Regional Airports Manager Australia & the Pacific to lead and manage our airport and cargo operations across Australia and the Pacific. The Role Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer – Commercial Department, this senior role is responsible for the overall performance, safety, service delivery and financial management of Air Niugini’s Australian and Pacific airport operations. You will provide leadership to Airport Managers, oversee third‑party service providers, and ensure compliance with aviation safety, security and quality standards while delivering exceptional customer outcomes. Key Responsibilities - Provide strategic and operational leadership for all Air Niugini airport and cargo operations in Australia, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji and other future destinations in the Pacific; - Lead and support Australia/Pacific Airport Managers, ensuring consistent standards and performance; - Ensure compliance with aviation safety, security, SMS and QMS requirements; - Drive on‑time performance (OTP), service quality and customer satisfaction; - Oversee ground handling, catering and airport service contracts, including cost control and service delivery; - Manage operational budgets, monitor expenditure and recommend efficiency improvements; - Prepare and submit monthly operational and performance reports; - Lead disruption management and service recovery during irregular operations; - Ensure adequate staffing levels, training and competency standards; - Maintain strong relationships with airport authorities, regulators, government agencies and service providers; - Represent Air Niugini on relevant aviation, emergency, facilitation and security committees. About You You are an accomplished aviation operations leader with a strong background in airport and ground handling operations. You bring sound judgement, commercial awareness and a proactive leadership style, with the ability to manage complex operations across multiple locations. Qualifications & Experience - Minimum Grade 12 education; tertiary qualification preferred; - At least 10 years’ experience in the airline or aviation industry; - Proven experience in airport and/or ground handling operations; - Strong knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Quality Management Systems (QMS); - Experience managing budgets, costs and operational performance; - Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and operational reporting; - Knowledge of Departure Control Systems, reservations and ticketing systems; - Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills; - Willingness to work extended or irregular hours as operationally required.
