Laboratory Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, providing high-quality laboratory services to our patients.

• Proficiently collect blood samples from patients using venous and capillary techniques.
• Utilize the Laboratory Information System for activating, ordering, and resulting laboratory orders from providers.
• Educate patients on proper specimen collection methods.
• Review orders from providers, maintaining accuracy in test ordering.
• Process specimens appropriately, including centrifugation, separation, and storage at appropriate temperatures.
• Prepare specimens for transfer to reference laboratories, completing required paperwork and ensuring STAT specimens are processed and transported timely.
• Perform waived and moderately complex CLIA testing in hematology, urinalysis, and serology areas under MLT or MT supervision.

• High school plus additional coursework up to 1 year in health care studies.
• Basic Life Support certification preferred.
• Medical Assistant or Certified Phlebotomist training beneficial.
• Less than 1 year of experience required.

This role may expose you to moderately adverse environmental conditions, with some health and safety risks. Safety equipment and precautions are necessary.

$45,000 - $55,000 per annum, based on location and experience.
