Labor and Specimen Processing Specialist

At Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, we are seeking a skilled Lab Technician to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory staff, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients ranging in age from infant to geriatric. Your expertise will include utilizing the Laboratory Information System for activating, ordering, and resulting laboratory orders from healthcare providers. You will also educate patients on proper specimen collection techniques, ensuring accuracy in testing procedures.
We offer a competitive salary of $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience. Our comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401(k) retirement plan with employer match. We also provide paid time off, holidays, and education assistance.
About the Role:
- Collect blood samples via venous and capillary techniques
- Utilize the Laboratory Information System for ordering and resulting laboratory tests
- Educate patients on proper specimen collection techniques
- Maintain accuracy in testing procedures
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework in healthcare studies preferred
- Basic Life Support certification required; Medical Assistant or Certified Phlebotomist certification a plus
- Less than 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment:
- Exposed to moderately adverse environmental conditions, including health and safety risks
- May require use of safety equipment and precautions
