**Position Summary**: The QA Engineer will be responsible for validating data pipelines and business logic implemented within cloud-based data platforms such as Databricks. This role ensures that data products meet the highest standards of accuracy, reliability, and consistency across all development stages.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute test strategies for ETL pipelines, notebooks, and data workflows built in Databricks (PySpark, SQL, Delta Lake).
- Develop and maintain automated validation scripts using Python, SQL, or PySpark.
- Validate data ingestion, transformation, and output consistency across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Analysts, and Product Owners to define acceptance criteria and ensure comprehensive testing.
- Document and track defects using JIRA and contribute to continuous QA process improvement.
**Required Skills**:
- SQL: Intermediate level — able to write queries with joins, aggregations, and filters for data validation.
- Python or PySpark: Basic to intermediate level for data manipulation, validation, and automation.
- ETL Testing experience: Understanding of data flow, joins, aggregations, and quality checks.
- Understanding of data modeling, ETL design, and Delta Lake concepts.
- Familiarity with Databricks or similar big data platforms (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Spark, Airflow).
- Excellent analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a dynamic data environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using AI-assisted tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude) or prompt engineering.
- Knowledge of test management tools (Zephyr) and defect tracking (JIRA).
