Gender Equality Advisor

If you want to be part of the national effort to promote women rights and support the reduction of discrimination affecting women in Peru, this might be the perfect position for you.

In this role you'll work and be supported by the Commissioners for Women's Affairs (Ombudsman Office)

This placement is located in the Ombudsman's office in downtown Lima.

**As a volunteer, your responsibilities will include**:

- Provide technical assistance to strengthen the dissemination of their thematic reports and research findings in the Women’s Affairs Office.
- Train staff in gender mainstreaming and gender-based violence.
- Provide support for the implementation of action plan of the gender and interculturality network.
- Provide support in the development of communication materials.
- Provide support to the Gender and Interculturality Network of the Ombudsman's Office

**Essential Requirements**:

- University degree in Political Science, Social Sciences (Sociology, Anthropology), Humanities (Social Psychology, Social Work), Law or related field
- Specialization on gender issues and/or public institutions

**Essential Background**:

- Knowledge of gender and social development issues in Latin America
- Knowledge of fundamental human rights
- Experience training diverse audiences
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, in order to communicate with stakeholders of different backgrounds
- Ability to work under pressure and demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks

**Project - Sharing Canadian Expertise for Inclusive Development and Gender Equality (SHARE)**

Cuso International will deliver the Sharing Canadian Expertise for Inclusive Development and Gender Equality (SHARE) project, with a contribution from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) over seven years (2020-2027). SHARE aims to improve the economic and/or social well-being of the poorest, most marginalized and vulnerable people, particularly women and girls, in developing countries, to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. In addition to increasing the engagement of Canadians in international development and key global issues, this project will aim to increase the performance of country partners to deliver more inclusive, innovative and environmentally sustainable development initiatives that advance gender equality, in support of the action areas of Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy.

The Peruvian Ombudsman’s Office is an independent state institution created by the Constitution of 1993.

Its mission is to o protect the constitutional and fundamental rights of individuals and the community; to supervise the public administration in the fulfillment of their duties; and to provide public services for citizens.

Its vision is to contribute to a complete respect of fundamental rights by public sector entities and enterprises while also providing public services and contributing to the consolidation of an inclusive, equitable and sustainable society.

**Terms and Conditions**:
Cuso International's terms and conditions allow you to lead a modest and healthy lifestyle similar to local living standards. This support package will cover basic living expenses for one volunteer and is not intended to cover home-based expenses (eg. loans, support payments, etc.) or luxury items such as imported items in placement or international personal travel.
