**The Role**

TRANZACT is currently searching for a Staff Accountant to join its growing Accounting team. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for executing a variety of financial procedures, including month-end and year-end closings for specified lines of business, accounts receivable, general ledger reviews, forecasting and budgeting. This position will report to the Controller.

**Responsibilities**
- Responsible for the month-end closing process for assigned line(s) of business including journal entries, account analysis. and financial statement preparation.
- Prepare and analyze key financial metrics for assigned line(s) of business.
- Work closely with the business team to provide financial analysis and support of monthly and daily financial statements.
- Understand insurance carrier data to include contracts, commissions, and policy data.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
- Maintain a detailed understanding of assigned business process areas.
- Collaborate with other team leads to prepare monthly financials.
- Develop and maintain procedures around monthly closing.
- Identify, document, and implement additional business and accounting workflows, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain processes and procedures in accordance with SOX compliance.
- Prepare and provide required documentation for External Auditors.
- Participate in and contribute positively to work/team environment.
- Develop and implement new processes to improve efficiency.
- Special projects as needed.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Critical thinking and high attention to detail
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Experience working with Oracle a plus
- Proficiency in Excel
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with different business stakeholders, clients, and teams
- 5 years of accounting experience
- CPA Certification is a plus
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
