Asia, Perú WWF-België A tiempo completo

_Posted on_ April, 06 2023_

Location: Asia (preferably in Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, or Thailand)

**Want to make a positive difference to the future of people and our one shared home the Earth?**

Working at WWF could be your opportunity of a lifetime.

All around the world, people are waking up to the deepening crisis of nature loss. A growing realization that nature is our life-support system. And that nobody will be spared from the impacts of its loss. Here at WWF, we are helping to tackle this enormous global challenge.

**What we do**

We are an independent conservation organization, striving to sustain the natural world for the benefit of people and wildlife. From individuals and communities to businesses and governments, we are part of a growing coalition calling on world leaders to set nature on the path to recovery by 2030. Together, we seek to protect and restore natural habitats, stop the mass extinction of wildlife, and make the way we produce and consume sustainably.

**Location**: Asia (preferably in Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, or Thailand)

**Work percentage**: 100%
**Reporting to**: PSC Regional Lead.
**Starting date**: as soon as possible

**Background and details on unit**:
WWF has a vision of an economy and a society that has zero tolerance for plastic pollution and all harm caused to the environment from such pollution. As part of this vision, WWF has launched the global initiative “No Plastic in Nature”, aiming to address the plastic problem using a holistic approach. WWF is aware that there is no single solution to plastic pollution. Instead, we need a comprehensive strategy that engages actors in government, business, and the public alike.

Plastic Smart Cities (PSC) is one of three pillars in the No Plastic in Nature Initiative within WWF. Since 2018, the pillar initiative supports cities and coastal centers that are taking bold action to stop plastic pollution. WWF’s PSC Pillar is working with 25 pilot cities in SE Asia and China to achieve a 30% reduction in plastic leakage in cities’ by 2025, through better waste management and advancing circular economy. With almost USD $40 Million dollars of funds raised, the PSC pillar is one of the biggest and most complex programs in the No Plastic in Nature Initiative.

Plastic Smart Cities Vision Statement
“Working together with 25 pilot cities in Southeast Asia to achieve 30% reduction in plastic leakage by 2025”
Under the supervision of the WWF PSC Regional Lead along with PSC Asia support teams, the PSC MIEL Manager envisioned working closely with 5 main implementing offices - China, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The regional support team will be integral to the design of regional and national PSC monitoring, evaluation, impact, and learning.
The PSC Asia team will primarily be supporting the five WWF Network offices in which the 25 pilot cities to ensure the quality of the NPIN PSC program is upheld and closely aligned with the global approach and initiative goals. The PSC MIEL Manager’s responsibility includes but is not limited to delivering impact evaluations, knowledge management, and scaling for the PSC Asia team.

**Role Overview (100%)**
- Maintaining high-quality monitoring and reporting systems in place for PSC projects to improve program delivery within the current pilot sites
- Capturing key learnings from plastic waste management projects (WWF’s and other organizations) and developing appropriate tools (e.g. an online platform and/or other suitable mechanisms) to facilitate scaling and replication of best practice waste management solutions with relevant WWF teams, institutional partner(s) or municipalities in the region
- Support the PSC Regional Lead to engage relevant external projects, finance institutions, and research institutes to build strategic backing for the scaling and replication beyond WWF and facilitate content development with various third-party providers.

Learning and Scaling

- Implement effective mechanisms to capture best practices, successes, and failures from PSC projects across the SEA as well as other similar existing initiatives in the region to share both internally and externally, with the aim of developing a toolbox or other suitable mechanism to support the scaling and replication of PSC projects beyond the existing pilot sites.
- Conduct, own, and organize externally implemented comparative analyses of pilot elements and results of PSC project implementation and other relevant approaches aimed at urban plastic leakage reduction and improved waste management.
- Contribute to content development in PSC NPIN/ACAI knowledge management system(s)
- In collaboration with the PSC regional lead, identify opportunities for partnership with institutional stakeholders in the region for further scaling and replication of PSC approaches.
- Ensure learning and experience from PSC and other relevant projects are incorporated in the project design of new WWF-led PSC projects
-
