Director of Network Operations

$140,000 – $160,000 per year + Super + Company Car The Director of Network Operations is responsible for the end-to-end performance, consistency, and scalability of the company’s operational network. This role owns operational strategy and execution across all depots and regions, ensuring safety, service, cost control, and growth objectives are met as the business expands. The position requires strong commercial judgement, hands-on operational leadership, and the ability to build repeatable systems that perform at scale. Key Responsibilities Network & Operational Performance Own operational performance across all depots, linehaul, and regional operations. Set and manage network-wide KPIs including service levels, DIFOT, cost per unit, safety, and utilisation. Ensure consistent operating standards, processes, and controls across all locations. Leadership & People Management Lead, mentor, and hold Regional and Operations Managers accountable for results. Build a strong leadership bench and succession plan across the network. Drive a performance-based culture focused on accountability, safety, and continuous improvement. Safety, Compliance & Risk Maintain best-practice safety and compliance standards across the entire network. Ensure adherence to NHVR, fatigue management, chain of responsibility, and WHS obligations. Proactively identify and mitigate operational, legal, and reputational risk. Network Growth & Scalability Lead operational planning for new depots, lanes, customers, and acquisitions. Design scalable operating models that support growth without loss of service or control. Partner with commercial teams to ensure operational capability aligns with sales commitments. Own operational cost structures and productivity across the network. Identify efficiency improvements in fleet, labour, warehousing, and linehaul. Support budgeting, forecasting, and capital investment decisions. Drive adoption and optimisation of operational systems (TMS, WMS, telematics, reporting). Establish data-driven decision-making and consistent reporting across the network. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to simplify, standardise, and automate operations. Stakeholder Management Act as a senior operational point of contact for key customers when required. Work closely with Sales, Finance, Compliance, and Technology teams. Represent operations at executive and board-level discussions. Experience & Qualifications Senior leadership experience in transport, logistics, supply chain, or network-based operations. Proven track record managing multi-site operations at scale. Strong understanding of linehaul, fleet, warehousing, and last-mile operations. Deep knowledge of safety, compliance, and regulatory frameworks. Commercially astute with strong financial and analytical capability.
