Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)

Support the delivery of UK International Climate Fund programmes addressing climate change mitigation in areas such as forests and land use, deforestation-free agriculture, sustainable infrastructure, and green finance by ensuring that they meet financial, sustainability and economic requirements.

Contribute to work with indigenous communities and the private/financial sector through sustainable production, finance and bioeconomy initiatives.

You will have the opportunity to learn about work across the economic diplomacy portfolio, including policy and programme work focused on cooperation for sustainable economic development. We offer the possibility to do job shadowing in some of the other complementary departments at the UK Embassy and potential field trips to the amazon regions.

With the support of your line manager and the wider team, you will be expected to carry out tasks including:

- Research and outreach
- Networking
- Monitoring and reporting on new developments.
- Organising and delivering events on forests, land use and sustainable/nature finance linked to climate change.
- Working with the Embassy’s communication team to promote the UK’s sustainable economic development work in Peru.
- Administrative support
- Oversee gathering and printing of photos to improve the look of the economic diplomacy area.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience
- Level of English language required: Confident. You will be expected to contribute to meetings, facilitate meetings and to produce written communication in a good standard of English

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience

Good organisational skills are important, and experience of administrative work is welcome.

Interns will receive training according to their role, including online courses and training from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and International Forests Unit.

Additional information

30 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

The embassy generally has core working hours from 10am to 4pm.

You will agree your exact working pattern with your manager if you are successful.
