**About the role**

We’re looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented **Analytics Engineer** to join our growing data team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for building clean, reliable, and extensible data models that power business reporting and decision-making. You’ll collaborate closely with our Business Intelligence Engineer to ensure they have well-structured datasets ready for dashboarding, monitor data quality across key systems, write ad hoc queries in BigQuery, and help extract data from external APIs using Python.

This is a high-impact opportunity to join a fast-paced company and play a key role in expanding our reach in the mass tort space.

Must be available to work 9am - 5pm EST.

**What you'll do**
- Take full ownership of the transformation layer (dbt) and ensure it provides clean, well-tested, and performant datasets for analytics and reporting. Kimball-style dimensional modeling.- Creating and update data models using best practices like testing and data diff (Data Fold).
- Add metadata (schema, descriptions) and data tests to models
- Leverage reusable dbt macros and packages to ensure scalable and DRY transformations.
- Improve speed to build tables by using incremental models
- Build curated data marts or semantic layers that allow business users or dashboard developers to self-serve reporting needs without requiring custom SQL queries.
- Proactively monitor data pipelines and anomalies using tools like Monte Carlo, and take ownership of triaging data quality issues before they impact stakeholders.
- Document all data models, their dependencies, and usage guides so that other team members can easily understand and extend the system.
- Work closely with other departments to investigate sources of errors. Then fixing the problem or creating a summary of the issue and working with our data engineer to fix it.
- Format reporting in excel and merge data from multiple datasets with vlookup and other advanced excel functions.
- Write ad hoc sql multiple table join queries to get data- We use MySQL and BigQuery but experience with any sql RDBMS works
- Write clean and composable SQL code- Knowledge of CTE and window functions is required and an understanding of query performance optimization.
- Write python code to pull data from api rest apis.

**Qualifications**
- 2+ years of data modeling at production level.
- 3+ years SQL (MySQL or similar)
- 1 year of dbt
- Solid understanding of Git (commit, branch, merge)
- 2 years of visualization tooling (Looker preferred)
- Experience with JSON and CSV
- Strong written and verbal communication is key

**Nice to have**
- GCP or other cloud experience (AWS, Azure)
- Prefect or similar orchestrator (Airflow, Dagster, etc.) - Assist with data extraction schedules.
- Looker experience
