The UN Resident Coordinator system aims to bring together the different UN agencies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operational activities at the country level.

The 2018 UN reform delinked the Resident Coordinator system from the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and invigorated the authority and neutrality of Resident Coordinators.

In Peru, the Office of the Resident Coordinator coordinates the 22 Agencies, Funds and Programmes

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the internship position will include but are not limited to:

  • Research, compile, draft, and edit basic information for use in the preparation and production of social media content;
  • Support drafting inputs to reports, presentations and documents;
  • Support the generation and development of new communication initiatives which will contribute to the visibility and positioning of the organization.
  • Support in the formulation, production, and dissemination communication resources (photography, video, graphic and editorial material) that will contribute the positioning of key messages.
  • Support the design and implementation of awarenessraising campaigns to enable relevant UN issues to be introduced in the public agenda.

Education

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
(a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,

(b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).

  • For this internship, studies in the area of Sustainability, International Relations, Communications, Business, Sociology or Economics is desirable.
Work Experience

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the internship advertised, fluency in English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of another UN official language would be an asset.

NOTE:
"Fluency" equals a rating of ''fluent'' in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and ̈knowledge of ̈ equals a rating of ''confident'' in two of the four areas.
