We’re seeking a dedicated Team Leader who loves both dogs and people, and who thrives in a hands‑on leadership role. The Team Leader will work predominantly morning shifts, offering the perfect mix of welcoming our dogs and their humans at the start of the day while early finishes enable you to enjoy the afternoons to yourself. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Operations - Lead, coach and mentor team members - Oversee day‑to‑day operations and staff movements - Manage inventory and conduct regular stocktakes - Allocate daily housing assignments for booked dogs - Assign van routes to ensure optimal efficiency - Manage staff pen assignments - Build and manage rosters in line with Code of Practice supervision ratios and budget requirements - Forecast revenue against budget - Identify and manage appropriate upsell opportunities Day Care Duties - Supervise group play, ensuring all dogs are safe, engaged and supported - Observe and interpret canine body language, intervening early to manage behaviour - Write fun, informative daily report cards for each dog - Capture clear, engaging photos and videos for daily updates and social media - Maintain cleanliness across the facility (mopping, laundry, tidying, etc.) - Follow all safety, cleaning and infection control protocols Requirements - Full Australian unrestricted driver’s licence (manual not required) - Current police check or willingness to obtain one - Confident handling dogs of all breeds and sizes - Calm, kind and consistent in a fast‑paced environment - Comfortable driving in peak traffic across Melbourne suburbs - Strong communication and team collaboration skills - Physically fit and able to work on your feet all day - Experience in a dog‑related role (day care, kennels, vet, rescue, etc.) preferred - Knowledge of canine behaviour and body language highly regarded - Basic photography or social media content experience is a bonus - Availability to work Monday to Friday - Minimum 2 years’ leadership experience, ideally in retail or a day care environment Application Requirements - Applications must include a short cover letter addressing the following: - Why you want to work at Happy Paws Waggy Tails - What makes you a great fit for our team - Any experience you have with dogs (personal or professional) - Your favourite dog breed, or a dog that has meant a lot to you - Applications that do not address the above will not be considered. - You will also answer the following questions in your application: - Which of the following statements best describes your right to work in Australia? - Do you have a current Australian driver’s licence? - Do you have a current Police Check (National Police Certificate) for employment? - How many years’ experience do you have as a Leadership Coach? - How many years’ experience do you have as a Dog Handler? #J-18808-Ljbffr
