Position Description: The Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Program is sponsored by U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. government and administered by IREX. It is governed by policies established by the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.
Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms is a professional development opportunity for U.S. K-12 teachers. As part of their program, a cohort of approximately 15 U.S. teachers will travel to Peru from June 14 – June 29, 2026. The in-country consultant will work with IREX and the U.S. Embassy in Peru to coordinate and facilitate logistical and learning aspects of the two-week program.
IREX seeks a candidate with knowledge of and experience in Peru's education system, the ability to utilize existing and develop new networks with key players across the education sector, strong cross-cultural communication skills, and some experience in event management to facilitate an educational, historical, and cultural program experience for U.S. teachers.

Required Qualifications:
  • Currently employed in a role related to primary or secondary education.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and cross-culturally;
  • Established residency at the time of application and for the entirety of the program in Peru;
  • Reliable internet and phone access for daily use and access;
  • Fluency in English;
  • Availability to secure leave from current employment to be on-site in Lima from June 13-18 and June 24-29, 2026 (dates are approximate);
  • Proven strong collaboration, leadership, organization, and communication skills.
  • Prior experience in planning events and managing travel groups is desirable;
  • Prior participation in a cultural exchange program or other international education opportunity is desirable.
Duties:
Program Planning and Coordination (February – June 2026)
In close coordination with IREX, the Consultant will:
  • Develop training presentations about the local education system and culture;
  • Identify, plan for, and coordinate visits to local cultural and historical sites;
  • Organize and facilitate meetings with local education officials;
  • Arrange visits to local schools;
  • At the direction of IREX, coordinate meetings with the U.S. Embassy and other organizations;
  • Oversee planning of logistics such as meals, lodging, transportation, etc.;
  • Regularly communicate with IREX staff in advance of program implementation (through weekly virtual meetings and additional communication as necessary);
  • Provide translation services for contracts and invoices as needed.
Program Implementation & Closeout (June-July 2026)
In close coordination with IREX, the Consultant will:
  • Deliver key presentations on the education system and culture and facilitate participant discussion groups;
  • Facilitate local cultural and historical site visits;
  • Facilitate meetings with local education officials;
  • Provide interpretation services where needed for guest speakers, cultural and school site visits;
  • Lead visits to local schools;
  • Serve as a point of contact in the event of an emergency during travel;
  • Serve as a liaison and provide support for U.S. teachers and IREX staff in-country;
  • Arrange group logistics such as transportation and meals, communicating with local partners and vendors;
  • Prepare proper financial documentation and reconciliation of expenses;
  • Resolve other program-related issues, as necessary;
  • Create a report documenting the activities of the in-country program, including lessons learned and recommendations for future programming.
Compensation and other provisions: The Consultant will receive an honorarium for their services and IREX will pay for select travel, accommodations, and meal arrangements associated with the coordination and implementation of the program activity for the duration of the contract. Detailed information about the compensation structure will be provided during the interview process.
