**Project Description**:
The Project “Women as Biodiversity & Climate-Resilience Guardians in Wetland/Peatland Landscapes” (Women as Guardians) aims to enhance the empowerment of women, including women of Indigenous heritage, to conserve highland wetland and peatland ecosystems for increased climate resilience in Bolivia, Ecuador, and Peru. It will be headquartered in Lima, Peru, and implemented in eight communities located in the buffer zones around three internationally protected areas, known as Ramsar sites: Lagunas Las Arreviatadas in Peru; Los Lípez in Bolivia; and Sistema Lacustre Yacuri in Ecuador. Ramsar sites are wetland ecosystems designated as being of international importance under the 1971 international environmental treaty, “the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands”.

**About the work**

The Financial Coordinator plays a vital role in the effective management of financial resources for the Women as Guardians project, contributing to the achievement of project goals and objectives while ensuring compliance with client regulations and accounting standards. As a key member of the project team, the Financial Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing financial planning, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting activities, as well as providing financial guidance and support to project staff and partners. With a keen attention to detail and a strong understanding of financial management principles, the Coordinator will play a crucial role in promoting transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility throughout the project lifecycle. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to sustainable development initiatives that aim to improve gender equality, climate change outcomes, and most importantly to improve the lives of communities across Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador.

**The Role **Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Alinea policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, procedures and project requirements established by Alinea and in adherence with Government of Canada guidelines.
- Perform accounting records for the Women as Guardians project and keep them up to date and in order.
- Review and approve all expense claims and invoices prior to processing payments to ensure they conform to contracts, GAC requirements and/or Alinea guidelines and policies.
- Maintain up to date bank records and reconciliations on physical and digital file.
- Reconcile ledgers with monthly bank statements.
- Maintain ledgers in accordance with Alinea standard formats, including voucher numbering sequence, coding by contract clause, activity number and any other applicable criteria stipulated in Alinea manuals.
- Prepare financial reports monthly, or when required by Alinea, including all original documentation, receipts, statements and bank reconciliations.
- Audit and certify petty cash vouchers, performing the expense audits and submitting them to Canada on the established schedules.
- Maintain a physical copy and a complete digital copy of all project transactions as a back-up for reference and for audits.
- Submit monthly cash advance requests to the Finance Controller in Canada.
- Manage cash flow and ensure sufficient funds are available for project operations in Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia
- Maintain close communication with the Financial Controller in Canada regarding financial management, accounting, procurement, banking, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Ensure compliance with fiscal, tax, financial and accounting regulations of the project.
- Cooperate with external auditors on behalf of Women as Guardians Project required by the project manager.
- Support the achievement of financial objectives by submitting timely information for budget preparation, expenditure scheduling, monitoring costs and variance analysis.
- Participate in project planning, execution and monitoring, reporting and Women as Guardians Project representation under the direction of the project manager.
