Specialization Description
Business Development Strategy & Planning work identifies, evaluates and negotiates, new sales and marketing growth opportunities across multiple of the following areas:
- Commercial/Pricing Strategy
- Sales Channel Strategy (Alliance Partnerships, Franchising, E-Commerce, etc.)
- New Product Development The work includes:
- Identifying and developing optimal revenue models, sales/distribution channels, pricing, and new product development strategies
- Identifying and negotiating strategic partnerships including financial arrangements, customer sharing, and intellectual property rights
- Prioritizing and tracking investments across new product development initiatives In some organizations may be responsible for project managing/integrating new business ideas and/or acquisitions.Specialization Match Note: Incumbents in positions accountable for mid-term strategy and planning in two or more of the following areas should be matched to this specialization:

Fully proficient and mostly independent individual contributor. A recognized subject matter expert in job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Works on large projects to achieve operational targets with a significant impact on function / sub-function results. May be responsible for setting day-to-day operational objectives for the team, as well as may direct workflow to other team members. Coaches and reviews the work of lower level professionals. Problems faced are difficult and often complex.
